Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
Sustainability in Times of Scarce Resources

Monday, May 7th, 2012
4:30–6:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

DESCRIPTION:

Jurisdictions, organizations, and individuals will have the opportunity to listen to and engage in a presentation on the important topic of sustaining programs and services in times of scarce resources. Because no one can rely on a single source of funding today, it is important to explore cross-agency, cross-program, and cross-jurisdictional collaborations, as well as private and public sources for funding opportunities.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Introduce you to using social marketing or public relations in your sustainability strategy

  • Highlight two jurisdictions who successfully sustained initiatives that made huge strides for children and families in their communities

  • Introduce you to tools to help you explore alternative funding strategies

  • Introduce templates and resources that will help you guide your team through the process of strategic planning for sustainability

PRESENTERS:

  • Joyce Burrell, Project Director, State Training and Technical Assistance Center (STTAC), Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)

  • Nancy Gannon Hornberger, Executive Director, Coalition for Juvenile Justice
